Welcome to the monthly Z662 newsletter featuring a new format. Based on client feedback, effective March 2018, the NASA Corp. course advertisement mail outs and industry announcements are being integrated with the Z662 Blog. The blog’s main page has been updated to provide direct links to current courses in the left-hand sidebar, newsletter and technical commentary blogs in the center panes and industry links in the right-hand sidebar.
The NASA Corp. Mailout
We will no longer be sending the long-form course announcement lists using the email platform. The monthly mailer will now simply let you know that a new monthly newsletter is available and provide a complimentary link.
The Canadian Pipeliner Accreditation Council has activated four new Pipeliner Qualifications for 2018. NASA Corp. offers training courses suitable for many of the CPAC qualifications. Several qualifications are also available based on an assessment of other credential combinations.
The newest available qualifications are:
- Level 2 Pipeline HazLoc and Electrical concepts (NASA Corp. Course available)
- Level 3 Pipeline Welder
- Level 4 Welding Inspector
- Level 4 Coating Inspector
Additional pipeliner qualifications levels are to be announced later in the year.
API 1169 vs. CPAC level 3
Earlier this year NASA Corp. completed a white paper project for Canadian Pipeliner Accreditation Council to compare the difference between their level 3 Inspection certificate and the API 1169 certificate. One of the results of the research from the NASA Corp. perspective was that many inspectors, are more familiar with the API 1169.
Both certificates are deemed equivalent, with the major difference being that the CPAC level 3 requires applicants to specific Z662 qualification while the API 1169 enjoying a higher name recognition. The NASA Corp. 2 day Pipeline Inspector Training course is a suitable pre-study for either exam.
Effective this month our registration form will allow you the choice of which qualification to write. The 2-day Pipeline Inspector Training course being offered in Edmonton is on March 28th and 29th.
